Biography
John Felix Anthony Cena is an American actor, author, and retired professional wrestler. Born on April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts, he is the son of Carol and John Joseph Cena and the grandson of baseball player Tony Lupien. Of Italian, French-Canadian, and English descent, Cena played football during his college years. After moving to California in 1998 to pursue bodybuilding, he transitioned into professional wrestling the following year. Known for his two-decade tenure as a defining star of the modern era of World Wrestling Entertainment, Cena has since established a career in film and television. He currently maintains a professional relationship with WWE, serving as a brand ambassador for the organization.

Cena began his professional wrestling career in Ultimate Pro Wrestling before signing with WWE in 2001. Over the next 24 years, he became a 17-time world champion, a record recognized by the company. His in-ring tenure concluded on December 13, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII, where he was defeated by Gunther. Following his retirement from active competition, he transitioned fully into his acting career.
