Gordon Wynnivo Jones was an American character actor born in Alden, Iowa on April 5, 1911, and he passed away on June 20, 1963 at the age of 52. He was a member of John Wayne's informal acting company. Jones is best known for playing the television nemesis Mike the Cop to Lou Costello, and for appearing as The Green Hornet in the first of two movie serials based on the old-time radio program. Before his acting career, the Iowa-born Jones was a student athlete and star football guard known as Bull Jones at the University of California, Los Angeles, and he played a few seasons of professional football. His early film work included small roles in Wesley Ruggles and Ernest B. Schoedsack's The Monkey's Paw in 1933, followed by his first credited role in Sam Wood's Let 'Em Have It in 1935.
