He is remembered for portraying detective George Bulman from 1976 to 1987 in a trilogy of Granada Television police drama series consisting of The XYY Man, Strangers, and Bulman. Following Bulman, he starred as the priest Frank Kane in the BBC drama series The Paradise Club, which was written by Bulman creator Murray Smith. Henderson also starred in cult and science fiction serials and films, including appearances in the first Star Wars movie as General Tagge, Doctor Who, and Red.
