David Benioff, born David Friedman on September 25, 1970, in New York City, New York, is an American writer and producer. He has a total of 19 known credits and is known primarily for his work in writing. Along with his collaborator D. B. Weiss, he is best known for co-creating Game of Thrones, which is the HBO adaptation of George R. R. Martin's series of books titled A Song of Ice and Fire and ran from 2011 to 2019. In addition to his television work, he wrote the film 25th Hour in 2002, the film Troy in 2004, the work City of Thieves in 2008, and co-wrote X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009.
