Biography
Claudia Cardinale, born Claude Joséphine Rose Cardinale on April 15, 1938, was a Tunisian-Italian actress who became one of the leading figures of Italian cinema. She gained international recognition during a career spanning over six decades and was celebrated in the 1960s as one of the most beautiful women in the world. Cardinale appeared in over 175 films, primarily in Italy and France, across genres such as comedy, drama, spaghetti westerns, and historical epics. Her breakthrough followed winning a beauty contest at age 17 while studying at Rome’s Centro Sperimentale. She worked with acclaimed directors including Federico Fellini, Sergio Leone, and Werner Herzog. Cardinale passed away on September 23, 2025.
