The story follows Jill, who arrives in the small town of Flagstone with the intention of starting a new life as railroad builders advance through the Arizona desert. A mysterious stranger carrying a harmonica teams up with a notorious desperado to protect a beautiful widow and her land. They must defend her against a ruthless assassin who is in the employ of a railroad tycoon. As the plot unfolds, three men enter the life of the widow, each with a different purpose: one to take her, one to love her, and one to kill her. The film has a runtime of two hours and forty-six minutes and was released in the United States on July 4, 1969.
