Biography
Andrew Scott, born October 21, 1976, is an Irish actor recognized for his work in theater and film. He gained prominence for portraying James Moriarty in the BBC series Sherlock from 2010 to 2017, a role that earned him a BAFTA Television Award for Best Supporting Actor. His performance as a priest in the second season of Fleabag in 2019 brought wider acclaim and a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Scott has also been noted for his portrayal of Tom Ripley in the series Ripley. His accolades include a Silver Bear from the Berlin International Film Festival and two Laurence Olivier Awards. He has received nominations for three Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. Born into an Irish family, Scott began acting at a young age, appearing in a television advertisement at age six.
