Overview

Band of Brothers is a 2001 American war drama miniseries based on the 1992 non-fiction book of the same name by historian Stephen E. Ambrose. The series was created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who also served as executive producers. The narrative follows the men of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, as they train for war and fight across Europe during World War II. The production is drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as their personal journals and letters. The story chronicles the experiences of these soldiers from their initial paratrooper training in Georgia through the end of the war. As an elite rifle company, the men participate in the D-Day parachute landing in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Throughout the series, the soldiers encounter the brutal realities of combat, forging bonds of brotherhood while experiencing both extraordinary bravery and fear. The project reunited Spielberg and Hanks following their collaboration on the 1998 World War II film Saving Private Ryan.
