André Morell (20 August 1909 – 28 November 1978) was a British actor whose career spanned the 1930s through the 1970s. Born in Saint Pancras, London, he was the son of André and Rosa Mesritz. Before turning to acting professionally, he trained as a motor engineer and participated in amateur theatrical productions, becoming a professional actor in 1934. He worked extensively in theatre, film and television, accumulating close to one hundred credited performances.

Morell is remembered for several high‑profile screen roles. On television he portrayed Professor Bernard Quatermass in the BBC serial Quatermass and the Pit (1958–59). In film he appeared as Doctor Watson in Hammer Film Productions’ adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959). He also took part in two Academy Award‑winning productions, playing supporting parts in The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) and Ben‑Hur (1959). Throughout the 1960s he featured in a number of Hammer’s well‑known horror films, and he was cast in the ITV historical drama The Caesars (1968). His work was noted for its breadth across genres and mediums, establishing him as a versatile and respected figure in British acting circles until his death in 1978 at the age of 69.
