On December 22, Dong Hai District Police (Bac Lieu Province) said that they had just coordinated with the Criminal Police Department and Hai Phong City Police to arrest Nguyen Van Cu (born 1953; hometown of Hai Phong City; permanent resident of the hamlet). Buu 2, Long Dien Dong commune, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province), wanted for “Murder”, after nearly 40 years on the run.

According to records of the Criminal Police Department, Hai Phong City Police, in April 1984, due to a personal conflict, Cu used a bamboo stick to beat Mr. TVCH to death at Doc Hau pumping station, Toan Thang commune, Tien Lang district, Hai Phong City. After committing the crime, on April 12, 1984, Cu fled the locality and was issued a nationwide wanted notice by Hai Phong City Police.
After fleeing to many places, Cu came to Bac Lieu province to change his identity to hide from arrest by the authorities to live, get married, and give birth to children in Buu 2 hamlet, Long Dien Dong commune, Dong Hai district ( Bac Lieu province) until he was arrested.
