International passenger transport reached 32 million passengers, an increase of 1.7 times compared to 2022 and equal to 77% compared to 2019.

Vietnamese and foreign airlines have completely restored flight routes to traditional markets and expanded operations to a number of new markets in Central Asia such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Mongolia.
Although still limited, in 2023, flights to China and Russia have also been restored.
Notably, some routes connect to countries with strong growth in exploitation output. For example, flights to the Indian market in 2023 will transport 920 thousand passengers, an increase of nearly 15 times compared to 2019; Flights to Australia in 2023 will transport 913 thousand passengers, an increase of 40% compared to 2019.
The Civil Aviation Authority said that currently, according to the winter 2023/2024 flight schedule, 63 foreign airlines and 5 Vietnamese airlines exploit the international market with 169 regular international routes and charter flights connecting 28 countries and territories in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa to Vietnam’s destinations such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, and Da Lat.

According to forecasts of the Civil Aviation Authority and Vietnamese airlines, the demand for air passenger transportation in 2024 is 80 million passengers, of which 38.3 million domestic passengers and 41.7 million international passengers.
Vietnamese airlines are expected to transport an estimated 58 million passengers (equivalent to 2023). Of which, the number of domestic passengers is 38.5 million (down 10.5% compared to 2023), the number of international passengers is 19.5 million (up 30% compared to 2023).
