The newly arrested defendants include: Mr. Tran Khong Dan – Vice Chairman of Phung Hiep District People’s Committee, Mr. Tran Van Thang – former Vice Chairman of Phung Hiep District People’s Committee and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dien – Deputy Director of the District Land Fund Development Center Phung Hiep.
Hau Giang police said that the three defendants mentioned above were arrested for further investigation into abuse of position and power while performing official duties.
Previously, in November 2023, Hau Giang Provincial Police prosecuted a case of abuse of position and power while performing official duties that occurred in a flood-surviving residential cluster in Cay Duong town.

During the investigation, the police determined that in the period from 2011 to 2015, defendants Thang, Dan and Dien committed many violations in considering and granting households to the flood-proof residential cluster in Cay Duong town.
As a result, there were 69 cases, equivalent to 69 plots, which were granted to the wrong subjects, causing a loss to the state budget of more than 3.5 billion VND.
