The Absa Cape Epic is often referred to as the “Tour de France of mountain biking”. Today’s, Stage 2 was the longest time trial – 66km and 950m climbing – in Cape Epic history. It was a true test of teamwork, tactics, and tenacity. The riders faced hot temperatures of 38 degrees as they went from Meerendal Wine Estate to Fairview, Paarl. In the men’s category BUFF MEGAMO of Wout ALLEMAN (BEL) and Martin STOŠEK (CZE) were able to claim their first stage win of 2025 race so far. Overall leaders SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing’s all Swiss-duo Nino SCHURTER (SUI) and Filippo COLOMBO (SUI) finished in second and build on the lead to 44 seconds in the general classification. In the women’s it was the dominating team of Toyota | Specialized’s Annika LANGVAD (DEN) and Sofia GOMEZ VILLAFANE (ARG) celebrating their third consecutive stage win. With this result they extend their overall lead to 9 minutes and 22 seconds.
