The collision took place at approximately 15:00 local time on Tuesday. According to SAPO, the van involved in the crash collided with a heavy goods vehicle. The impact was so severe that all three occupants of the van died at the scene.

The victims, all identified as Portuguese citizens, were a 47-year-old man who was driving the vehicle, a 17-year-old, and a four-month-old infant seated in the rear. While the occupants of the van did not survive the impact, the Guardia Civil reported that the driver of the truck escaped the collision uninjured.

The Agón tragedy was part of a wider wave of road violence that struck the region on Tuesday. In the municipality of Ilche, located in the Huesca province, a separate accident involving a van and a truck claimed the lives of three other people. The Secretaria de Estado das Comunidades confirmed that preliminary information indicates the deceased were Portuguese nationals residing in Spain.
