Mary and Joseph journey to Bethlehem in response to a call for a census. While there, she gives birth to a son, Jesus. In nearby fields, shepherds are visited by a choir of angel who proclaim to them the good news – “Don’t be afraid! Look! I bring good news to you—wonderful, joyous news for all people. Your savior is born today in David’s city. He is Christ the Lord.” The shepherds are stirred to respond, to go and seek the child, and to spread the news of what they have found.
