2 Vietnamese male volleyball players went to Cambodia to compete
Before 2024, Vietnamese men’s volleyball has only one athlete who has ever competed abroad, which is the case of “bomber” Ngo Van Kieu who went to Indonesia in 2008. However, this “drought” was extinguished after 16 years.
Accordingly, striker Tran Duc Hanh of Ha Tinh volleyball team will almost certainly be the first male player in Vietnamese volleyball to compete abroad in 2024.
Talking with SGGP, Director of Ha Tinh Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center – Ms. Phan Thi Thu Huong, said: “We have received an official dispatch from the Cambodian team expressing their wish to invite player Tran Duc Hanh came to compete in your tournament. Today, we have sent a written report to the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh province about Hanh’s case to ask for a policy. Basically, the Center Provincial sports training and competition always create conditions and support players to compete to best promote their professional abilities as well as bring a beautiful image to Ha Tinh volleyball. According to the official dispatch, the Volleyball Sports Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Cambodia expressed its wish to borrow player Tran Duc Hanh to Cambodia to compete in the TeChho volleyball tournament taking place from January 13 to February 18. Almost certainly, Tran Duc Hanh will go to Cambodia to attend the tournament. This is the first male player in Vietnamese volleyball who will go abroad to compete in 2024. Currently, Vietnamese volleyball has players playing in Japan and Thailand, but they are all female players.
A representative of Ha Tinh Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center said that after Duc Hanh finishes competing in Cambodia, he will return home to prepare professionally towards competing in phase 1 of the 2024 national volleyball championship. Last year, the Ha Tinh men’s team ranked 4th in the 2023 national volleyball championship and Tran Duc Hanh is the captain of this team.
Following in Duc Hanh’s footsteps, another Vietnamese male volleyball player will also compete in the Cambodian National Championship, which is the “dinosaur” Che Quoc Vo Lit.
Specifically, Cambodia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Club revealed that they continued to successfully sign a contract with Che Quoc Vo Lit, a 2m tall assistant of the Ho Chi Minh City Club.
“Dinosaur” was born in 1996 with a height of up to 2m, a figure that really impressed the club’s coaching staff from Cambodia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs Club is confident that Vietnam’s giant foreign soldiers will help the team improve its defense on the net. It is expected that in the next few days, Che Quoc Vo Lit will go to Cambodia to sign a contract with the Ministry of Internal Affairs Club.
