What’s up? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and we have some exciting news for Stranger Things fans, season 4 might be coming sooner than we thought! Like many other shows, Stranger Things was forced to halt production back in March due to the pandemic. Before the lockdowns, David Harbour, AKA Hopper, said he thought season four of the beloved Netflix show would be dropping in 2020. We even got a trailer of the new season earlier this year, again pre-pandemic, that revealed that Hopper is in fact alive! But as time went on, getting back to filming became less and less likely. We weren’t even sure if the cast and crew would safely be able to get back to set this year, meaning the show probably wouldn’t come out until 2021 or even 2022. And in case you forgot, season 3 left us on with some MAJOR cliffhangers. Spoiler alert if you haven’t watched, but we have no idea if Hopper will be able to get out of Russia. We have no idea if Eleven will be able to get her powers back. And we have no idea if the mind flayer is REALLY gone for good. So clearly there are a LOT of loose ends to tie up from season 3 and fans have been anxiously waiting for them to get back to filming season 4. Back in June the Stranger Things writers teased that they had finished writing the season with this stack of scripts writing “Stranger Things 4: the complete season.” Obviously this was a total tease and sent fans into a frenzy wondering when the show would pick up filming again. Luckily, this week, Deadline just broke news that they are finally preparing to get back into the production of Stranger Things. Deadline reported that the cast and crew are targeting September 28th to resume shooting the upcoming fourth season in Georgia! And just in case you’ve lost track of the days like I have, September 28th is in exactly 1 week! As we know, not all of the cast members are from the United States, so returning to filming will likely involve some time to travel and isolate before they get started. And if they really are resuming filming on September 28th, they are probably quarantining now! I will say, some of the cast members have been awfully quiet on social media these past couple weeks come to think of it… Anyway, with all productions during the pandemic, the date is tentative and subject to change, but this means season 4 could actually be coming sooner than we thought. All of this has led to many fans wondering if there’s any chance we could still get season 4 in 2020. While others think it’ll be early 2021. Obviously, this is still all dependent on if they are able to safely film the episodes. Which, by the way, from the writer’s pic from June, based on the number of scripts, it looks like there will be 8 episodes in this season. So hopefully they can get through the 8 episodes quickly, safely, and efficiently so we can start to get answers to the many cliffhangers of season 3. Stranger Things isn't the only show to get back to filming either. The Riverdale cast and crew are quarantining together in Vancouver, where they are shooting season 5 of their show. So here’s to hoping we will be able to have some new episodes of our favorite shows again soon!
