for comedy hype news i'm dom smith for the past few weeks everyone has been talking about dave chappelle's latest netflix special the closer and guess what we finally heard what dave chappelle thinks at a time like this the special has caused controversy with many speaking out against several jokes japan made regarding the lgbtq community well on monday october 25th chappelle released a five-minute video on his own instagram page where he spoke out about what's been going on since the comedy special has began streaming this would mark the first time we've heard chappelle on a public platform the video opens up with chapelle telling the crowd that it's been reported that he's been invited to speak with some transgender employees at netflix and he declined chappelle cleared the air by stating the headline was not true if he was invited he would have accepted the offer chappelle also said that even though the media has pitted him against the lgbtq community that's not what it is even though the media frames us that it's me versus that community that is not what it is do not blame the lbgtq community for any of this this has nothing to do with them it's about corporate interests and what i can say and what i cannot say chappelle said that everyone he knows from that community has been nothing but loving and supporting he would end the five-minute video by talking about the camp he held in the summer of 2020 on his farm in yellow springs ohio that summer camp was recorded and later became a documentary film that's been shown at the tribeca film festival radio city music hall and the hollywood bowl when the film was completed he received offers from many film festivals some of which she accepted however after his latest stand-up special he got some unfavorable reviews and they began disinviting chappelle from those film festivals since the outrage of the special there's not a film company a movie studio or a film festival that will showcase the movie lastly chappelle specifically addressed the transgender community and those who had a problem with this special he told him that he is willing to speak with them but he's not bending to anybody's demands ironically chappelle has a few conditions of his own before meeting with them first of all you cannot come if you have not watched my special from beginning to end you must come to a place of my choosing and a time of my choosing and thirdly you must admit that hannah gatsby is not funny chappelle has not found a distributor to the film but told everyone in attendance that he wants people to see this movie as a result he announced that he will be showing the documentary as a part of a ten city tour that begins in november what do you guys think is this about chappelle versus the lgbtq or is it chappelle versus the first amendment what do you guys think about film companies backing out on chapel's new documentary is hannah gatsby funny let us know in the comments below stay up to date with the latest news and comedy by subscribing here to our youtube channel follow comedytype across all social media and look out for original content on our new streaming service at comedyhype.com for comedy hack news i'm dom smith and i need a haircut [Music]
