Yu Jingjing is 38 years old and works at Dalian Children’s Hospital in Liaoning province, China. He is known as the “toy knight”, because he created a unique way to calm little patients who were nervous about being examined. Instead of just doing security duty, Yu attached small and cute toys to his uniform to make the atmosphere at the hospital cozy and fun.
China: “Toy Knight” at Children’s Hospital
The reason Yu started this idea came from the fact that he discovered that many small toys of young patients had been lost or forgotten. To help children and parents easily identify and find toys, Yu created special costumes with toys hanging on the back.

“I try to put toys on uniforms in an impressive way so that children and their parents can easily find lost toys when they visit the hospital again,” Yu shared.
More than just someone who ensures hospital safety, Yu has now also become a source of joy and comfort for the young patients. Even crying children became calm when they saw the “toy knight” appear. Occasionally, Yu also gives toys to patients as gifts, showing his care and affection for children.
The secret to Yu’s success is his dedication and special love for young patients. Although he cannot cure their illnesses, he tries to ease the pain of children in his own way.

Yu’s teenage son also expressed pride in his father’s creation. He understood that his father hanging toys on uniforms was to encourage his “brothers and sisters” who were experiencing worries about health checks and vaccinations.
Yu’s efforts not only received praise from patients and families, but were also highly appreciated on social networks. One internet user said: “I salute this security guard”, while another emphasized: “He uses his daily work to bring warmth to the world”.
