Beckham sold 55% of the majority of his business to US group Authentic Brands in 2022, raising a total of £200m. He joins famous stars such as Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe, whose global brands are part of the Authentic group and own the Reebok, Hunter Wellington and Ted Baker brands.
Reports say the Beckham brand’s revenue doubled from £34 million to £72.6 million in the first year of partnership with Authentic Brands. However, pre-tax profits fell from £23.6m to £10.8m, mainly due to increased administrative costs.
DRJB Holdings Ltd, the company that owns almost all of David Beckham’s businesses, earns revenue from sponsorships, branding partnerships and television businesses. Beckham, as an ambassador for the 2022 Fifa World Cup, received £10 million.
Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham’s business is also more favorable after many years of difficulties. Just in early December, she opened her third store in Paris, France, introducing many new makeup and beauty products.
Revenue from Victoria Beckham’s fashion and beauty business increased from £40m to £58m and losses narrowed from £5.9m to £3.1m. Shareholders, including the Beckhams, and NEO Investments invested a further £6.9 million to support the business. However, the auditor warned that there was “substantial doubt” about the company’s ability to continue operating without continued support from shareholders.
Although Victoria’s company is making a profit, it is at risk of bankruptcy without financial support from shareholders, including her husband – David Beckham and private company Neo Investment Partners.
According to reports, Victoria Beckham’s brand has borrowed more than £30 million over the past 13 years from other parts of Beckham’s business empire. Previously, 2022 was a year that marked success with interest rates up to 44%, revenue reaching 58.8 million pounds (equivalent to 74.1 million USD), compared to 40.9 million pounds (52,000 USD). 1 million USD) of 2021.
The company also revealed that sales will continue to grow by double digits in 2023, due to “unprecedented” demand for new beauty products and fragrance collections.
With these successes, if both David Beckham and his wife continue to maintain business success, they can earn more than 100 million pounds (equivalent to 127.4 million USD) by 2024.
