Director Nguyen Love said that he and his crew have just collaborated with Vietnam National Defense Television to complete the Tet comedy film “New Year’s Eve Tray”. The film revolves around the family story of Mr. Mun, Mr. Chung and Mr. Han. Because he was so poor, on the afternoon of the 30th of Tet, he still had nothing to offer to his ancestors, so he went to slaughter pigs for Mr. Han’s family. While the old man had not yet returned, Mr. Mun quickly brought the pig’s head home, boiled it, offered it to his ancestors, and then brought it back. Uncle Chung saw Mr. Mun doing that and also dared to imitate him. Mr. Han returned, made offerings to his ancestors, and saw Mr. Han and Chung standing there burning incense and praying respectfully, so he was very happy. He rewarded the two elders with a package of white sticky rice with some boiled blood.

Meanwhile, Mr. Han’s grandmother discovered that the pig’s head had a chipped ear, so she forced Mr. Han to go to Mr. Mun’s house to settle the bill. However, when he arrived and witnessed the family of Mr. Mun and Mr. Chung happily enjoying a pot of boiled porridge and banana flower salad, Mr. Han could not bear to punish them. The film is expected to air on Vietnam National Defense Television and digital platforms during Tet 2024.

Director Nguyen Love shared that this year many film studios and media companies no longer participate in the Tet film market like every year. He himself also encountered many difficulties but was still determined to make two films: “New Year’s Eve Feast” and “Peach Wedding on Tet”.

The director affirmed that the folk film genre is still eternal and has strong vitality. He always wanted to make this type of film because it also contributes to preserving the cultural and human values of the country.

“The film wants to convey a message about happiness, letting go, and enlightenment. Does money and fame really bring happiness to people, or do we just need to know enough, be altruistic, and compassionate towards others? “People around you are happiness? No matter what mistakes people make, they just need to know how to look at themselves and repent and turn towards goodness, then they will always be loved and respected,” director Nguyen Love shared. shall.

“Mrs. Ba is the youngest in Mr. Han’s family, sings well, is beautiful, seems carefree on the outside but is actually a very thoughtful and cunning person. The memory that Quach Mai Thy remembers most while filming “New Year’s Eve Party” is a sleepless night: “At 4:00 a.m. I departed from Hanoi to the filming location, worked continuously until 2:00 a.m. the next morning before stopping. After that I returned to Hanoi to change costumes and makeup and then continue on the road in time for the show scheduled early the next morning in Hai Phong. I only slept for about 1 hour,” Quach Mai Thy shared.

As a singer, in the film, Quach Mai Thy performed the Xam song “Hue Tinh”, ca tru “Do Duan” and a few parody songs.
