The Czech Republic newspaper paid attention to Nguyen Filip
Last night (January 14), Vietnam National Team played the opening match of Group D of the 2024 Asian Cup. In this match, Vietnam National Team had to face a very strong opponent, Japan National Team. Even though they played very hard, the Vietnamese team still lost 2-4 in the end.
In this match, the main starter in Vietnam’s wooden goal was goalkeeper Nguyen Filip. This is Nguyen Filip’s first official match for Vietnam National Team after he made his debut in a closed match against Kyrgyzstan on January 9.

In the middle of the 2023 season in Vietnam, Nguyen Filip moved from the Czech Republic to Vietnam to play football for the CAHN club. After that, he completed his Vietnamese citizenship and changed his name from Filip Nguyen to Nguyen Filip.
During the Vietnam national team’s gathering to prepare for the 2024 Asian Cup, coach Philippe Troussier called Nguyen Filip to the Vietnamese national team. After Dang Van Lam withdrew, Nguyen Filip was trusted by coach Troussier to be the main starter.
In the match against Japan, Nguyen Filip played well, showing the class of a goalkeeper who won the Best Goalkeeper award of the Czech Republic National Championship. Even though he had to concede 4 goals, Filip Nguyen was not at fault because the Japanese team’s attack was very strong and their finishing shots were highly accurate.
Following the developments of the match between Vietnam and Japan, the Czech newspaper Isport Blesk had an article with the title “Nguyen Filip in goal is not enough for Vietnam, the stronger Japan team won 4 -2”. In the article, the author described the progress of the match, emphasizing that Japanese players Minamino (2 goals), Nakamura and Ueda scored against Nguyen Filip.

The Czech Republic’s Ruik newspaper had an article “Nguyen Filip debuted for the Vietnamese national team in a fierce match! He conceded 4 goals in the Asian Cup against the Japanese national team”. This newspaper mentioned that Nguyen Filip returned to Vietnam to play football, trying to complete naturalization procedures to be eligible to play for the Vietnamese national team and emphasized: “The goalkeeper who played in the Czech Republic, Nguyen Filip, had a match. debuted in the Vietnamese national team’s colors at the 2024 Asian Cup against the Japanese national team. Nguyen Filip had to concede 4 goals and could not prevent the Vietnamese national team from losing to the championship candidate of the tournament.”
In Vietnam National Team’s next match against Indonesia National Team on January 19, it is likely that Nguyen Filip will continue to star if he is in peak physical condition. This is considered the match that decides whether the Vietnamese team can compete for tickets to the 1/8 round or not.
