Overview

Wycliffe is a British television series based on the novels by W. J. Burley that centers on the investigations of Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe. Produced by HTV and broadcast on the ITV Network, the program began with a pilot episode on 7 August 1993, followed by a series run from 24 July 1994 until 5 July 1998. The production was filmed on location in Cornwall, utilizing a production office based in Truro. Jack Shepherd stars in the title role, supported by characters DI Doug Kersey and DI Lucy Lane. Each episode of the series focuses on a murder investigation. The musical score for the program was composed by Nigel Hess, whose work on the series received the Royal Television Society award for best television theme.
