Overview

Cold Squad is a Canadian police procedural television series that premiered in 1998. The program follows the investigations of a specialized unit within the Vancouver Police Department Homicide Division. This group, known as the Cold Squad, is tasked with solving cold cases. Throughout the duration of the series, the unit is led by Sergeant Ali McCormick, who is portrayed by Julie Stewart. The show features a diverse and changing cast of characters, with McCormick serving as the only individual to appear in all seven seasons of the program. Between the second and third seasons, the production underwent significant changes, as nearly the entire on-screen cast was replaced. This transition period also included the introduction of new sets, as well as a comprehensive revamp of the show's theme music and opening credits. The series focuses on the procedural efforts of the department as they revisit and attempt to resolve unsolved criminal investigations.
