Overview

Ultraman is a Japanese science fiction television series produced by Tsuburaya Productions that debuted in 1966. Created by Eiji Tsuburaya, the program serves as a foundational entry in the Ultra Series media franchise. The narrative centers on the Science Patrol, a specialized organization tasked with investigating bizarre anomalies and defending the planet. The story follows Shin Hayata, a member of this defense force who experiences a life-altering encounter with an alien being from the Land of Light in Nebula M78. After Hayata is mortally wounded, he merges with the extraterrestrial visitor, gaining the ability to transform into the giant hero known as Ultraman. Hayata activates a device called the beta capsule to assume this form whenever a threat arises that exceeds the capabilities of the Science Patrol. As Ultraman, he battles various monsters that wreak havoc on Earth. The original series, which aired between 1966 and 1967, features performances by actors including Susumu Kurobe, Sandayu Dokumamushi, Masaya Nihei, and Bin Furuya.
