Overview

The Long Ballad is a 2021 television series that follows the journey of Li Chang Ge. The narrative begins following the Xuanwu Gate Incident, during which the Emperor of Tang, Li Shi Min, murders Li Chang Ge’s family. In the aftermath, Li Chang Ge travels to Shuo Province while disguised as a man, motivated by the desire to assemble an army and seek vengeance against the Emperor for the death of her relatives. While serving as a captain for the army of Shuo Province in Zhangzhou, she encounters the Eastern Turkic Khaganate General Ashina Sun. During a siege, the army of Shuo Province is defeated by Ashina Sun. Following this military loss, Li Chang Ge is taken by the General to serve as his personal military strategist. The series chronicles her experiences as she navigates these shifting circumstances and her personal quest for retribution. The production explores the complex political and military conflicts arising from the events surrounding the Tang dynasty leadership and the interactions between the various involved factions.
