The Hogan Family is an American television situation comedy that aired on NBC from March 1, 1986, to May 7, 1990, and on CBS from September 15, 1990, until July 20, 1991. The series was produced by Miller-Boyett Productions and Tal Productions, Inc., in association with Lorimar Productions, Lorimar-Telepictures, and Lorimar Television. The program was originally titled Valerie and starred Valerie Harper as a mother attempting to balance her career with the responsibilities of raising her three sons. In the series premise, the character lived with her children while her husband worked as an airline pilot who was often absent from the home. Following the conclusion of the second season, Valerie Harper was written out of the series due to a dispute. The show continued its broadcast run across two different networks until its final episode aired in the summer of 1991. The production history of the sitcom encompasses its initial development under the title Valerie and its subsequent transition to the name The Hogan Family.
