The television series Soap is an American sitcom that originally ran on ABC. The show was created as a nighttime parody of daytime soap operas, presented as a weekly half-hour prime time comedy. Soap features the antics of two families, the wealthy Tates and the working-class Campbells, in the fictional town of Dunn's River, Connecticut. The series was created by Susan Harris and starred Katherine Helmond, Rod Roddy, Richard Mulligan, and Cathryn Damon. The show also featured a cast of characters including Billy Tate, Corrine Tate, Jodie, and Saunders. Soap aired for four seasons, from September 13, 1977, until April 20, 1981, and was known for tackling groundbreaking topics, including one of TV's first openly gay characters. The series consisted of multiple episodes, with all episodes available to view.
