Overview

The 2021 television series "SHAMAN KING" is an anime adaptation of the manga created by Hiroyuki Takei. The show follows Yoh Asakura, a young medium who participates in a battle tournament occurring every 500 years, where shamans compete to become the all-powerful Shaman King. Directed by Jouji Furuta and produced by animation studio Bridge Inc., the series originally aired in Japan beginning April 1, 2021. It was later made available globally through Netflix. The series features a cast of voice actors portraying shamans and spirit allies as they journey across the world confronting evil spirits and rival competitors. Masao Maruyama, former president of Madhouse and then-president of MAPPA, expressed interest in rebooting the franchise as early as 2015. This 2021 version marks the second anime adaptation of the original manga.
