Overview
Sanctuary is a Canadian science fantasy television series created by Damian Kindler. The show aired for four seasons between 2008 and 2011, totaling 59 episodes. In the United States, the series was broadcast on Syfy, while in Canada, it aired on The Movie Network, Movie Central, and Space. The narrative centers on Dr. Helen Magnus, an enigmatic and brilliant scientist. Dr. Magnus is dedicated to the study and protection of a clandestine population known as Abnormals. These beings are described as strange and sometimes terrifying entities that exist hidden among humans. Dr. Magnus seeks to unlock the mysteries surrounding the existence of these creatures, which are believed to hold the key to the future of the human race. The series features performances by Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne, Ryan Robbins, and Christopher Heyerdahl. While a fifth season consisting of six episodes was planned and green-lit by Syfy, it was never produced. The project received funding from the Beedie Development Group.
