Overview
Samurai Jack is an American animated science fantasy action-adventure television series created by animator Genndy Tartakovsky. The program originally aired on Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004, with a later run on the Adult Swim programming block in 2017. The series follows a great warrior who is displaced to the distant future by an evil shape-shifting wizard named Aku. In this bleak future, the world is segregated into fantastic tribes and ruled by the wizard's robot warlords. The protagonist travels across this foreign landscape in search of a time portal that will allow him to return to his home time. His primary objective is to undo the future that Aku has created and save the world. The production is noted for its highly detailed, outline-free, and masking-based animation style. Voice talent for the series includes Phil LaMarr, Mako, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Grey DeLisle. The titular character is a samurai, a term historically used to denote members of the professional warrior class in pre-industrial Japan.
