Overview

Run with the Wind is a 2018 television series centered on the sport of long-distance running. The story begins when a student named Haiji intervenes after a former high school elite runner named Kakeru is pursued for stealing food. Haiji, who is also a runner at Kansei University, convinces Kakeru to move into an old apartment building known as Chikuseisou. Once there, Kakeru discovers that Haiji intends to assemble a team from the building's residents to compete in the Hakone Ekiden Marathon. This event is recognized as one of the most prominent university races in Japan. Kakeru soon realizes that, with the exception of Haiji and himself, the other residents living in the apartment have no prior experience with the sport and are complete novices. The narrative follows the group as they prepare to participate in this challenging athletic competition despite their varying levels of skill and training. The series explores the dynamics between the residents as they work toward their collective goal of entering the prestigious marathon race.
