Overview
Psych is an American detective comedy-drama television series created by Steve Franks that premiered on the USA Network in 2006. The series follows Shawn Spencer, a man who possesses heightened observational skills and an impressive eidetic memory developed during his childhood under the instruction of his police officer father. After Shawn provides frequent tips to the police, he is falsely accused of a crime he solved. To maintain his cover, he convinces the authorities that he possesses psychic powers. Consequently, he is hired as a crime consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department. Alongside his reluctant best friend, Shawn uses his abilities to help solve complicated cases while dragging his father and the police into his schemes. Known for its light-hearted tone and the chemistry of its two leads, the show often spoofs procedural dramas and includes numerous references to classic films and television series. The program ran from 2006 to 2014 and inspired a series of television movies that continued the story for its dedicated fanbase.
