Overview

Common Law is a television series featuring two police partners working in the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division. The show centers on Travis Marks and Wes Mitchell, detectives who have maintained a successful seven-year partnership despite their contrasting personalities and frequent arguments. Their relationship dynamics resemble those of an odd couple, with significant differences in their approaches and temperaments creating ongoing tension between them. Due to their constant bickering interfering with their police work, the detectives are referred to couples' therapy by their captain. The captain, described as having new-age sensibilities, believes that counseling can resolve their conflicts after having experienced positive changes in his own life through therapy.
