Overview

One Tree Hill is an American teen drama television series created by Mark Schwahn that premiered on September 23, 2003, on the WB network. The show is set in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, and centers on the lives of two half-brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott. Despite sharing a last name and a father, the brothers come from different backgrounds and have contrasting personalities. Lucas is a quiet, working-class student who plays basketball at a local court with his close friends, while Nathan is a privileged star athlete on the school’s basketball team, enjoying widespread popularity. Their father, Dan Scott, is a former college basketball player whose past decisions continue to impact both his current family life with wife Deb and son Nathan, and his estranged relationship with Lucas and his mother, Karen. The series explores themes of family, friendship, rivalry, and personal growth. After three seasons on the WB, the show continued on the CW following the networks' merger. It ran until 2012.
