The television series Moomin is based on the Moomin novels and comic strips by Finnish illustrator and author Tove Jansson and her brother Lars Jansson. The series follows the adventures of the Moomins, gentle and peaceful creatures who live in the remote and mysterious Moominvalley. Young Moomintroll and his family experience many strange adventures, both magical and mundane. The series was produced by Telecable Benelux B.V. in co-production with several other companies, including TV Tokyo and Televisión Española. It is an anime series that consists of 78 episodes, produced in Japan between 1990 and 1991. The series is also known as Delightful Moomin Family and helped to create the Moomin boom of the 90s. The Moomins are the central characters in a series of novels, short stories, picture books, and a comic strip by Tove Jansson.
