Mister Rogers' Neighborhood is an American children's television series created and hosted by Fred Rogers. The program originated in 1963 as Misterogers on CBC Television before debuting as Misterogers' Neighborhood on the regional Eastern Educational Network in 1966. The series made its United States network debut on February 19, 1968, and continued to air on NET and its successor, PBS, until August 31, 2001. Produced in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the half-hour educational show is aimed primarily at preschool children aged two to five, though PBS has stated the content is appropriate for all ages. Throughout the series, Fred Rogers explores various topics for young viewers through presentations and music, both in his world and in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. The program features a cast including Fred Rogers, Betty Aberlin, David Newell, and Joe Negri. The series was directed by David Fu-Ying Chen. In Canada, the title is sometimes shortened to Mister Rogers and spelled Mister Rogers' Neighbourhood.
