Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari is a 2023 television series based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Onigunsou. The story follows Kunato Hyoma, a character filled with rage against spirits known as tsukumogami following a tragic encounter. Kunato is sent to live with Nagatsuki Botan, a member of a clan that uses divine powers to return these spirits to their own world. While both characters are part of this clan, their personal histories with the otherworldly vessels differ significantly. Kunato was robbed of a loved one by the spirits, whereas Nagatsuki was saved by them. The series explores their conflicting perspectives as Nagatsuki attempts to help Kunato see a different side of the tsukumogami. The animation is categorized under the action, adventure, science fiction, and fantasy genres. The voice cast includes Saori Oonishi, Shin'ya Takahashi, Takeo Otsuka, and Yûki Takada. The original manga was previously serialized in Miracle Jump and Ultra Jump.
