Overview

Maison Ikkoku is a Japanese television series that premiered in 1986. The show is set in a run-down apartment house called Maison Ikkoku, where a young ronin, Godai, lives among other residents. Among the other residents are the nosy Ichinose, the sexy Akemi Roppongi, and the mysterious Yotsuya. The others are given to having wild parties which makes it difficult for Godai to study. Into this mayhem comes the recently widowed Kyoko as the new live-in manager. The series follows Godai's life at Maison Ikkoku, where he develops a relationship with Kyoko, despite all sorts of romantic hurdles. The show is based on Rumiko Takahashi's manga series of the same name, which was serialized in Big Comic Spirits from November 1980 to April 1987. The television anime adaptation consists of episodes that originally aired weekly on Fuji TV from March 26, 1986, to March 2, 1988.
