Overview

Last Exile is a Japanese anime television series set in a retro-futuristic world dominated by aerial vehicles called vanships. The story follows young sky porters Claus and Lavie, who become embroiled in a large-scale conflict when they are tasked with delivering a mysterious girl named Alvis to the battleship Silvana. As they navigate dangerous skies, they find themselves entangled in an ongoing war between two powerful nations. The series was created by Gonzo and features direction from Koichi Chigira, with character designs by Range Murata and production design by Mahiro Maeda. These creators had previously collaborated on Blue Submarine No. 6, an early computer-animated anime project. The show blends action, adventure, and romance against a backdrop of elaborate airship battles and political intrigue. It explores themes of freedom, authority, and destiny as the protagonists confront forces beyond their control, including a powerful organization known as The Guild that holds dominion over the skies.
