Overview

Justified is an American neo-Western and Southern Gothic crime drama television series that premiered on March 16, 2010, on the FX network. Developed by Graham Yost, the show is based on the writings of American novelist Elmore Leonard, specifically his 2001 short story titled Fire in the Hole. The series stars Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens, a strong-willed and quiet U.S. Marshal. After returning to his native town in Kentucky, Givens enforces his own brand of justice while dealing with the challenges of his high-stakes profession. The narrative further explores his strained relationships with his father and his ex-wife, as well as his efforts to address criminal activity in the Appalachian region where he grew up.
