Overview

I Love Lucy is an American television sitcom that aired on CBS from October 15, 1951, to May 6, 1957. The series spanned 180 half-hour episodes across six seasons and starred Lucille Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz, alongside Vivian Vance and William Frawley. The program follows the life of Lucy Ricardo, a young, middle-class housewife. Her husband, Ricky Ricardo, is a Cuban bandleader who would prefer that his wife focus solely on her domestic duties. Instead, Lucy constantly attempts to perform at the Tropicana, the nightclub where Ricky works, despite her lack of talent. These ambitions frequently lead Lucy and her best friend into comically frantic predicaments. The couple shares their apartment building with their landlords, Fred and Ethel Mertz, who are also their close friends. The series depicts the ongoing tension between Lucy’s desire for stardom and Ricky’s preference for a traditional home life, resulting in various humorous situations for the main characters throughout their shared time in the apartment building.
