Overview

Hotel is an American prime time drama series that aired on the ABC network from September 21, 1983, to May 5, 1988. The program occupied the timeslot immediately following the series Dynasty. Produced by Aaron Spelling and created by John Furia and Barry Oringer, the show is based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Arthur Hailey. The narrative is set within the elegant and fictitious St. Gregory Hotel, located in San Francisco. For the production, establishing shots of the hotel were filmed in front of The Fairmont San Francisco, situated atop the Nob Hill neighborhood. The series focuses on the personal and professional lives of the hotel staff, as well as the activities and misadventures of the various guests passing through the establishment. The cast includes actors such as James Brolin, Connie Sellecca, Nathan Cook, Shari Belafonte, and Anne Baxter. While the series captures the essence of the original novel, it takes creative liberties to expand the storylines and characters for a television audience.
