"Flipper" is an American television program produced by Ivan Tors Films in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Television. The show first aired on NBC and was broadcast from September 1964 until April 1967. It is set in a fictional location in southern Florida, where a marine preserve and park are managed by a Chief Warden. The Chief Warden is accompanied by his two young sons and a companion animal, a bottlenose dolphin. The show has been compared to "an aquatic Lassie" and inspired a significant amount of merchandise during its initial broadcast.
