Overview

Fist of the North Star is an animated television series that aired from 1984 to 1987. Produced by Toei Animation, the show is an adaptation of the manga created by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara. The series, which consists of 109 episodes, originally aired on Fuji TV. The story is set in the year 199x, following a nuclear holocaust that has left the Earth as a charred and lawless wasteland. In this environment, humans struggle to survive in a fearful world. The central character is a young wanderer named Kenshiro, who is distinguished by seven scars on his chest shaped like the North Star. As a practitioner of the deadly master art known as Hokuto Shinken, Kenshiro rises to oppose the violent reality of the post-apocalyptic landscape. Throughout the series, he fights a succession of tyrannical warriors in an effort to restore order to the planet. The show features voice performances by Akira Kamiya, Shigeru Chiba, Teiyu Ichiryuusai, Kenji Utsumi, Takeshi Aono, and Kimitsugu Todani, and includes direction by Shigenori Kageyama.
