Overview
Fate/Zero is a Japanese anime television series based on a light novel series of the same name written by Gen Urobuchi and Takashi Takeuchi. Produced by the studio Ufotable, the series was directed by Ei Aoki. The writing team included Akira Hiyama, Kazuharu Sato, Takumi Miyajima, and Akihiro Yoshida, while Atsushi Ikariya and Tomonori Sudo served as character designers. The show is part of the Fate media franchise created by Kinoko Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi for Type-Moon. The plot centers on the Fourth Holy Grail War, a conflict in which seven chosen mages summon heroic spirits from history to battle one another. These pairs fight to the death for the Holy Grail, a magical device capable of granting the winner any wish. Among the participants is Kiritsugu Emiya, a former assassin who enters the war with the intention of preventing others from using the power of the Grail to destroy the world. The series originally aired between 2011 and 2012.
