It is a contemporary prequel to the 1960 film Psycho, depicting the life of Norman Bates and his mother Norma in a different fictional town and modern setting. The show features Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore and explores the unraveling of Norman Bates' psyche throughout his teenage years.
