Overview
Appare-Ranman! is an original Japanese anime television series produced by P.A. Works and directed by Masakazu Hashimoto that aired from April to September 2020. Set during the back-end of the 19th century, the story follows the genius but socially awkward engineer Sorano Appare and the wise yet cowardly samurai Isshiki Kosame. After finding themselves drifting in the sea between Japan and America with no money, the duo decide to enter the Trans-America Wild Race to win the prize money so they can return home. As they race through America in a steam-powered car they built themselves, traveling from the starting line in Los Angeles to the finish line in New York, the two encounter rivals, bandits, and numerous challenges in the wilderness. Additionally, a manga adaptation of the series by Ahndongshik was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace magazine from April 2020 to January.
