Overview
American Yakuza is a 1993 crime action film directed by Frank Cappello and starring Viggo Mortensen and Ryo Ishibashi. The film follows an American FBI agent who is lured away by the Japanese Mafia, the Yakuza. When Nick Davis leaves prison after serving one year in solitary, he secures a job operating a forklift at a harbor warehouse owned by Japanese Yakuza patriarch Isshin Tendo. During an assault on the warehouse by the Italian Mafia, led by Dino Campanela, Nick rescues Shuji Sawamoto, the representative of Yakuza interests in America. Following this rescue, Shuji hires Nick to work for the Yakuza and becomes his godfather in the family after Nick takes an oath to join the criminal organization.
