Overview
3rd Rock from the Sun is an American television sitcom created by Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner. The series originally aired on NBC from January 9, 1996, to May 22, 2001. The program features a group of aliens sent to Earth to experience and report on life on the third planet from the sun. To facilitate their mission, the group disguises themselves as a human family. The high commander of this expedition takes on the human form of Dick Solomon and considers Earth to be the least-important planet. He is accompanied by his alien compatriots Harry, Sally, and Tommy. Although Tommy is the eldest member of the group, he is trapped in the body of a teenager, a situation that causes him significant anger. The series stars John Lithgow, Jane Curtin, Kristen Johnston, and French Stewart. The show explores the group's attempts to navigate human life while maintaining their extraterrestrial mission objectives.
